This policy covers two surfaces: https://beforeyougo.tech — the marketing website — and the Before You Go app installed on Shopify and Shopware stores. The two surfaces collect different kinds of data; both are described below.

What the marketing site collects

When you visit https://beforeyougo.tech, we collect:

Anonymous analytics via Google Analytics 4 (GA4): page views, referrer, approximate location (country/region), browser, and device type. GA4 sets first-party cookies for this.
Server logs from our hosting provider: IP address, user agent, request URL, response code, and timestamp. These rotate on a short retention window and are used only for debugging and abuse prevention.

There are no email signup forms, no contact forms, and no account creation on this site. The only way to reach us is by emailing help@beforeyougo.tech directly.

What the app collects on merchant stores

When a merchant installs Before You Go on their Shopify or Shopware store, the app processes visitor data in order to detect when someone is leaving a product page and to show a recovery page with personalized recommendations. Specifically, the app handles:

An anonymous session identifier— a random UUID stored in the visitor's browser (localStorage key before_you_go). This lets us recognize the same visitor across the bounce-page render and any subsequent click, so we can attribute orders to a recovery-page click rather than guessing.
Page-view, click, and recovery-page-impression events — which product page the visitor was on, whether they engaged with the recovery page, which recommendation they clicked. Used to choose what to show on subsequent visits and to measure the app's actual contribution to revenue.
Order data from the merchant's store via the Shopify and Shopware order webhooks — order ID, subtotal, line items (as product handles), and timestamp. Used to attribute orders to a recovery-page click within the same session.
Server logs on the app backend — same shape and retention as the marketing site logs.

The app does notcollect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or shipping addresses from store visitors. It doesn't link visitors across different merchant stores. It doesn't set advertising cookies, run retargeting pixels, or share visitor data with third parties for marketing.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data to anyone.
We don't run advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or third-party marketing cookies on the marketing site or the app.
We don't fingerprint visitors or use cross-site tracking beyond what GA4 does by default on the marketing site.
We don't buy or enrich visitor data from third parties.

Cookies and local storage

Marketing site:the only cookies set come from GA4. They're used to distinguish unique visitors and sessions for traffic measurement. You can opt out of GA4 with the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking third-party scripts in your browser.

App on a merchant store:no cookies. The session identifier is stored in browser localStorage rather than as a cookie. Clearing your browser data on the merchant's store removes it. The app doesn't use third-party cookies of any kind.

Data retention

GA4 data is retained for the default period (14 months for event-level data) and then automatically deleted.
Server logs rotate on a 30-day window.
App event data (views, clicks, impressions, orders) is retained for as long as the merchant's subscription is active and for up to 90 days after uninstall, then deleted.
The session identifier in localStorage persists until the visitor clears their browser data.

Your rights

If you're in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws (GDPR, UK GDPR, etc.), you have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. Email help@beforeyougo.techand we'll respond within 30 days.

Who we are

Before You Go is operated by Lazybones Manufaktur Ltd., a private limited company. For any data-protection questions, email help@beforeyougo.tech.

Changes

If this policy changes meaningfully, the “Last updated” date at the top will move and the change will be visible in the site's git history. Cosmetic changes (typo fixes, formatting) won't bump the date.
